//BUZZCUT// is a collaboration between two artists in Glasgow dedicated to creating exciting, supportive environments for artists and audiences to experiment with cutting edge live performance.

 

//BUZZCUT// looks to open up new spaces for performance to happen, to bring new audiences to live art, and to create new opportunities for artists to make and share work.

 

//BUZZCUT// believes in strengthening and broadening communities, in bringing people from different walks of life together in one circle to ask challenging questions.

 

//BUZZCUT// is about sharing; sharing food, sharing ideas and support, opening up doors and sharing homes.

 

We could not have put on last year’s festival without the amazing and generous help of our volunteers, and we’re currently looking for our 2013 team! 

 

The 2013 festival will run from the 27^th – 31^st of March and we’re looking for help before as well as during the festival.   This year we want to use Buzzcut to question how a festival can strengthen a community, and will be based in the Trongate area of Glasgow for the first four days, and then in Maryhill for the final day.  We’ll be looking for two teams – a tech team and a team for box office, front of house and promotions.  It’s a great chance to gain some experience in an artist lead-environment, and as well as meeting great people you’ll also get:

 

//Food// – we’ll be providing lunch for everyone involved in the festival during the festival dates

 

//Shows// – if there’s a show (or shows) you really want to see you won’t have to work during it

 

//Party// – we’ll be throwing you a party at the end of the festival, just to say thanks

Calling all live artists to be part of…

//BUZZCUT//is an artist-led performance festival in Glasgow, which celebrates and supports artists from all stages of their practice.

We’re so excited to be returning for our 2^nd festival next March and we’ve been asking ourselves the question: ‘What do we know? What do we still need to learn?’

 Between 27^th – 31^st March, we aim to be programming over 50 pieces of work over 2 venues and having //BUZZCUT// be a meeting point for all kinds of communities across Glasgow and further.

 We are accepting proposals from live artists from across Britain and beyond. We’re really keen to hear from as many people as possible and also how your piece responds to the same question we’ve been asking ourselves: ‘What do we know? What do we still need to learn?’

 //BUZZCUT// will provide artists with:

• The opportunity to create a new piece of work, show an existing piece of work, or try out a new idea in a supportive environment 

• A platform to showcase work to invited producers and programmers from across Britain

• The opportunity to become part of a new performance community

• Free, homemade, hot food each day of the festival from our //BUZZCUT// chef

• Specially created artistic meet and greet events every day

• Full documentation of your work through film and photographs

We would also like to pay for your travel if we’re able to accept your application for the programme. This can’t be confirmed at the moment but we will let you know as soon as we know.

If you are coming to the festival from outside Glasgow, there will also be the opportunity to stay with a Glasgow-based artist with no accommodation costs.

 //BUZZCUT// is about people. It’s about art and it’s about sharing.

In collaboration with Tramway, //BUZZCUT// presents: ‘5 Minutes to Move Me’ as part of Fresh Faced on Saturday 15th December in the afternoon.

We are looking for 3 artists to create a 5 minute, one-on-one performance that takes place over a table, responding to the Fresh Faced theme of ‘An Alternative Christmas’.

As an alternative to excessive Christmas spending we’d like to invite you to creatively respond to a £5 budget and see how far you can make that money go!

We can also offer a fee of £50 as well as travel expenses.

Richard DeDomenici – Popaganda – Saturday 4th August, 17:30

An international scandal has erupted after it was discovered that key details of monologist Richard DeDomenici’s new show Popaganda are actually true.

Sit back and relax to the dulcet tones of Richard DeDomenici’s songs that aren’t real, facts that aren’t funny, and jokes that don’t rhyme, in his new show Popaganda.

A jetlagged litterpicker of the world’s cultural landfill, watch DeDomenici throw western civilisation at the wall, caution to the wind, and see what sticks.

The live is often recorded, it then becomes something else, something much easier to take, something edited and framed. With that in mind are you watching? Closely? I know there’s a lot to take in, maybe too much? It’s about the live, the recorded, imagery, concept and process.

Murray Wason – Automaton – Sunday 5th August, 18:35

 

AUTOMATON

Since Isaac Asimov defined the story of the robot in 1950 humans have been re-imagining the future and shaping technology in our own images. In this new solo piece from Murray Wason his newly invented automatons will attempt to examine the flesh/synthetic relationship of the human body and to get inside the mind of the machines. Do they have the edge? What can we not yet recreate?

In the story of the automaton the future is uncertain. There are worlds created and destroyed, projections of the past and visions of what may be. In this exuberant development of the Automaton performance series wason will present his new life-like inventions to you.
