OVERSTATEMENT/OVERSTEINUNN: Expressions of Expectations

Created and performed: by Steinunn Ketilsdóttir

Expect nothing! Expect everything! Expect anything! Expect something!
What is expected?
How much is too much? How much is not enough? How much is enough?

OVERSTATEMENT/OVERSTEINUNN: Expressions of Expectations is an on-going solo project by Icelandic choreographer Steinunn Ketilsdóttir. Through a series of articulated andembodied statements she expresses the expectations of a performance and the performer, concurrently questioning those very expectations.

The project emerged from her struggle to explain and articulate her artistic works and visions in an institutional setting. Faced with the challenge she decided to over-articulate, over-explain and over-express herself in an attempt to convey her multiplicity. She would

OVERSTATE herself and make an OVERSTATEMENT.

Steinunn has many expectations of what this project will be. What it will not be. What it might be. And what it might not be. What it should be. And what it should not be. In

OVERSTATEMENT/OVERSTEINUNN: Expressions of Expectations she will make statements until it is enough.
