Rachel Mars + Zev Dharrish Naido // Joke Translation Service

Joke Translation Service (1).png

Being at home with the humour of a place is a way to be at home in a place.

The length of a typical stand up comedian’s headline set, Joke Translation Service is two people telling each other their most beloved jokes from the cultures they grew up in, and if the other doesn’t get them, trying their best to explain them until they do.

It is a refusal to be wedged apart by toxic and fearful political doctrine; a space to construct communication between two people with different national, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, through a love of gags.

It is also likely to be deeply unfunny, extremely confusing and very frustrating.
